event help
: ̗̀➛ massive disclaimer:
every convention artist has had a different experience, so i'm going to give a brief history to add some perspective before giving advice:
i started selling online in 2020, but didn't do my first in person event until 2023. I honestly really preferred growing dizzy leopard shop in that order because it meant by the time of my first event, already had a baseline of steady expectations in terms of how many/which items sell, confidence in my works, and I didn't have to worry about items not selling at an event because I could just sell them online instead.
general tips:
- for portfolios, highlight works that are recent (enough to showcase your current art style) and works that show off what makes your art unique
- for prices, keep in mind what you could pay for it and what do other people charge (if established artists charge in a specific range for an item, typically it's for a reason).
-
consider the following when deciding your own prices:
- the time you spent to create the item
-
how much it costs to produce
-
where your skill level is at
- how unique your art is
due to these factors always changing, your prices may fluctuate and that's okay!
